UF4SGBs calling for members to attend training

“We still declare that the education of an African child will no longer be compromised, postponed nor neglected.”

Kwatsaduza – The United Front for School Governing Bodies (UF4SGBs) is inviting all members of school governing bodies to attend training.
The training will be for newly elected school governing bodies (SGB) members regardless of affiliation.
The two-day sessions will be held at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School on May 15 and 16.
Registration will start at 7.30am with training starting at 9am.
UF4SGBs provincial organiser Lehlohonolo Modishane said the training will be beneficial to the new SGB members.

SGB elections

“The purpose is to ensure that newly elected SGB members are familiar with the South African Schools Act (Sasa), and to provide a better understanding of what their roles entail and what their responsibilities are,” she explained.
Members are urged to wear masks on the day and sanitisation stations will be provided.
Bhekizizwe Siluma, the deputy president of UF4SGBs, said the training is to strengthen the SGB.
“We are urging all SGB members to attend this face-to-face training to be able to form a supportive structure of schools.
“We are championing for schools to be able to function effectively with proper support.
“Our purpose is to promote learning without any favours.
“We still declare that the education of an African child will no longer be compromised, postponed nor neglected.”
