Councillor helps clear waste backlog

When residents complained about the backlog he promised on Monday he will physically go to the municipal offices to collect the workers and trucks to remove the garbage.

KwaThema – Residents of Kwa-Thema took to Facebook to applaud Ward 74 councillor Thulane Simelane for getting his hands dirty to keep his ward clean.
This was after he joined the municipality’s team to remove rubbish that was piling up after two weeks.

When residents complained about the backlog he promised on Monday he will physically go to the municipal offices to collect the workers and trucks to remove the garbage.

Ward 74 councillor Thulani Simelane helped remove rubbish in Kwa-Thema after a two weeks’ backlog.

Dubbed “Mr No Rest”, the councillor can often be seen working with teams unblocking drains, cleaning illegal dumpsites, fixing street lights and broken water meters.
