Get additional waste bin if one is not enough

Customers are urged not to litter, avoid illegal dumping and to put out refuse only on the day of refuse removal.

The City of Ekurhuleni has reminded all customers that refuse removal officials are not allowed to collect additional refuse bags, branches or any other form of refuse placed on top of or next to 240-litre wheelie bins.
The City has phased out the smaller 85-litre waste bins by introducing bigger 240-litre waste wheelie bins, which come with many benefits.
Among the advantages of using 240-litre wheelie bins is the ability to minimise the infestation of rodents and related health hazards.

Furthermore, the bigger 240-litre bins have an extra capacity to contain more household waste compared to waste bins that have been phased out.
In cases where a customer generates more waste than can be contained in one 240-litre bin, they may visit their nearest customer care centre to apply for the additional bin.
Customers must produce their identity document and municipal account statement.
An extra monthly service fee of R174.41 VAT exclusive per bin will be charged.

Residents are advised to place out the wheelie bins as early as 7am on the refuse collection day as stipulated on the municipal refuse removal calendar to avoid missing refuse collection dates.
