Men arrested for robbing doctors’ rooms

“One of the men was walking with the aid of crutches and pretended to be in severe pain."

Duduza – Two robbers targeting local doctors’ rooms were arrested on Monday.
The pair enjoyed a spree of robberies as a number of cases have been reported in many areas, including Springs, Kwa-Thema and Duduza in recent months.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the robbers would go into a doctors’ rooms or medical centres and pretend to be patients.

“They would then rob other patients or the working staff or even steal equipment in the surgery.
“Their luck ran out when they went into a surgery in Motweni Street, Duduza.
“One of the men was walking with the aid of crutches and pretended to be in severe pain.
“The unsuspecting staff at the surgery rushed to assist the fake patient and went to call the doctor who was in the other room.
“That was when the fake patient got a chance and stole two cellphones and a laptop.
“He was chased by the doctor and was seen getting into a car,” he explained.

Manaka added that the two suspects were later arrested in Johannesburg.
Police also found the crutches used in the commission of the robbery.
