Kwa-Thema – Police are investigating a case of rape after a 39-year-old woman was reportedly raped in a veld near Driemanskap last Tuesday.
The victim was visiting her aunt at a farm where they were picking spinach when they were approached by a man who claimed to be a farm security officer.

Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Sgt Media Khoza said the man instructed both women to accompany him to his employer – the farm owner.
“He then requested they give him something in exchange for his silence.
“The aunt told him she knew someone at the farm from whom she could borrow R50 and she left the victim with the man while she went to collect the money.
“The man then forced the victim into the veld, raped her and fled the scene,” explained Khoza.
Khoza added that while walking home after the ordeal, the victim came across a group of men and told them about the incident.

“She gave them his description and a manhunt ensued.
“They were able to track him down and he was assaulted before police were called.
“The suspect was arrested and taken to Pholosong Hospital under police guard,” she said.
