Policeman fatally shot outside his home

It is believed he had parked his service vehicle to open the gate when the gunmen opened fire.

A 52-year-old police officer was shot and killed outside his home on Sunday night in Kwa-Thema. Capt Phillip Maaka, who was stationed at the Vosloorus SAPS, was shot as he arrived home by unknown men. It is believed he had parked his service vehicle to open the gate when the gunmen opened fire. SAPS spokesperson Col Brenda Muridili said the officer was off-duty at the time.
