Duduza SAPS station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu expressed concern with the slight increase

Duduza– Duduza police revealed that 156 cases were opened at the local station during October, 45
of which were assaults.

This information was shared during a community engagement meeting last Tuesday.
Duduza SAPS spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said they decided to engage the community after statistics showed an upward trajectory on cases such as burglaries, hijackings malicious damage to property and assaults for October.

“The purpose of the meeting was to engage with the community through the CPF on crime issues affecting the
area and to find amicable ways to combat it.
“Also identified was an increase in both residential and business burglaries,” he said.
Manaka added the station was happy to announce they arrested wanted individuals, especially those sought for
gender-based violence.
“There was also an arrest of 32 people for drunk driving,” he said.
