Top matrics receive awards

The event was attended by prominent people, some of whom are former learners of the school.

Duduza – Tandi Eleanor Sibeko Secondary School hosted an award ceremony to honour their top performing matriculants on Friday at the Duduza Resource Centre.

The criterion for awards was based on preliminary exam results. Fifteen learners were rewarded with certificates and trophies.
School principal Moyeni Skosana said the purpose of the event was to encourage all stakeholders to continue to work hard.

“Covid-19 has discouraged lots of people around the world and we felt our learners were losing hope and faith.
“The event was to remind them how far they have come and to inspire them.
“It is important to have a positive attitude now more than ever,” said Skosana.
The event was attended by prominent people, some of whom are former learners of the school.
The event was organised by deputy principal Alleta Manyaka.
“Teaching and learning was very complicated this year. Nonetheless, it is still possible to pass the year.
“And that’s the message we want to send to our learners,” she said.

The top three learners were Lephoto Themba, Toyi Azaria and Hlophe Nonhlanhla.
Learners and educators received stationery gifts from the Elizabeth Mnguni Foundation along with caps.
The Principal Trophy was awarded to Themba.
Youth brigades were on site to ensure compliance to Covid-19 regulations were adhered to.
