Young author publishes book to inspire the youth

One of his biggest challenges was making time to write his book.

Tsakani – Born and bred in Extension 16, Siphamandla Norman Xaba (20) is a selfpublished author of ‘Unboxing Yourself: Time Waits for No Man’. The book, which was launched on his birthday on September 11, aims to inspire the youth to chase their dreams. “Today’s youth is engaging in things such as substance abuse, peer pressure, mismanaging funds, social media, and are after shortcuts to success and dropping out of school. “The other reason I wrote this book is to motivate unemployed graduates. “From my book, readers will learn how the hidden power of their minds can change their lives when they learn to use it properly.

“They will learn the power of their thoughts and their influence on the results they get, as well as how to teach themselves any skills and redefine their hustle,” explained Xaba. He used the lockdown period to work on his book. The former learner of Tsakani Primary School and Tsakani Secondary School is studying computer science at the Tshwane University of Technology. “My passion for writing started when I was in Grade 12 in 2018. I used to write inspirational manuscripts whenever I got free time. “I’ve had the desire to write a book ever since,” he stated.

One of his biggest challenges was making time to write his book. “I did not have time to write due to schoolwork and washing sneakers for students to earn extra money. “I had sleepless nights. I suffered from fatigue and was extremely stressed by how I was going to publish my book because I didn’t know any publishers. “Regardless of all the odds, I pushed myself to finish the book and publish it because of the passion I have,” said Xaba.
