Councillor’s attempted murder case postponed

Ngwenya faces an attempted murder charge.

Kwa-Thema – The case of attempted murder against suspended Ward 79 councillor Zwelibanzi Ngwenya was postponed to November 12 by the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
The case was postponed on Friday to allow Ngwenya’s legal team enough time for consultation with their client.
The trial is set to commence on the set date in the Springs Regional Court.

Ngwenya was arrested and charged with attempted murder following the shooting of a man with whom Ngwenya’s brother was allegedly fighting.
It is alleged the councillor’s brother was fighting with the victim on December 24 and Ngwenya was called to intervene.

Upon arrival at the scene, the councillor allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the face.
Ngwenya was arrested on December 29 and released on bail on December 30.
