Man dies in failed hijacking

The man was driving his red Volkswagen Polo along Harry Gwala Street in Masechaba, Duduza, when it is believed he stopped to greet a friend.

Duduza – A 37-year-old man was shot and killed in an attempted hijacking on Friday evening.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the occupants of a white Ford Fiesta, registration
number unknown, stopped behind him.“An unknown armed man climbed out of the Fiesta.
The victim tried to drive away when he saw this man approaching.

“That was when the gunman fired one shot through the driver’s door window and shot the victim in the upper body.
“The victim died after driving approximately 400m down the road before crashing into a yard,” he explained.
Manaka added police are investigating a case of murder and appeal to any person who may have credible information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to call the Duduza SAPS on 071 675 7027 or 011 810 6063.
