Epilepsy South Africa residents celebrate Mandela Day

On Friday, 223 residents from Epilepsy South Africa’s Geduld and Daggafontein centres celebrated Mandela Day with a whole lot of fun.

The residents played games and had fun exchanging gifts.

“We thank all organisations who contributed towards our noble cause, and we are appealing for donations from the community at large for the sustainability of the organisation,” said director of Epilepsy SA Magdaleen Kruger.

Founded in 1967, Epilepsy SA is the only national non-profit organisation in the country focusing exclusively on rendering specialised and comprehensive services to people with epilepsy and other disabilities.

They are a vigorous advocate for those with epilepsy.

The organisation is committed to rendering quality, needs-directed services, ensuring maximum organisational effectiveness and impact, as well as accomplishing long-term sustainability.

Epilepsy South Africa’s Geduld and Daggafontein centres received much-needed donations of food and other goods to help get them through winter.

“We achieve our objectives through a variety of education, awareness, social development and economic empowerment programmes.

“Even in today’s progressive society, a person with epilepsy is not guaranteed equality.

“We work to protect their rights, promote empowerment, self-determination and, when unable to do so themselves, represent their interests,” said Kruger.
