City responds to allegations about Springs Clinic

Municipality confirms clinic was closed for decontamination after Covid-19 case.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) has responded to allegations made by some employees at the Springs Clinic that the facility was not closed for decontamination after a colleague tested positive for Covid-19.

It was reported in last week’s Advertiser, Employees raise concerns, that staff members at the clinic accused management of disregarding Covid-19 protocols.

The employees claim they spoke to management about their concerns but were told to keep coming to work until they received their test results.

According to CoE spokesperson Themba Gadebe, the clinic was closed after a positive case of Covid-19 was confirmed at the facility.

“The clinic was fumigated on July 8 to ensure personnel can render services in a safe environment,” he said.

A visit to the clinic by the Addie on Monday morning confirmed the facility is open.
