Another Langaville family left devastated due to fire

Shack burns to the ground at Extension Eight informal settlement

Langaville – A fire at Extension Eight informal settlement left the Mndawu family with nothing.

The fire is understood to have started due to a hotplate which was left on, after the electricity had gone off in the area.

Makhosini Nhlapho, a community leader in the area, says: “The fire broke out around 9am but the fire department only responded around 10am.

“The shack belonged to two pensioners, Kuntu Robert and his wife Ntombi Angel Mashego, who are taking care of their grandson along with his father.

“The family would appreciate any kind of assistance from the community.

“We need building material to help them. Imagine finding yourself without shelter, blankets or food during such terrible weather conditions.”
