Child Welfare needs you to “Hold our Hand”

The Springs and Kwa-Thema Child Welfare Society need your support to help them offer their services to children in need.

“We at Springs and Kwa-Thema Child Welfare are calling on the community of Springs and Kwa-Thema to assist us in this time.

“With the challenge we face, the organisation is affected to a large extent as funds are needed to provide the services rendered,” says programme manager Sanet van Moerkerken.

The organisation meets its shortfall yearly with a range of well-planned fund-raisers, but all their plans for 2020, just like yours, have changed.

“We appeal to everyone to take our hand and help us with a financial contribution whether it’s once-off or even smaller amounts committed for the next 12 months.

“We need you to help us strengthen our structure financially so that we can focus on serving the community,” she says.

Currently the Springs and Kwa-Thema branch is responsible for 656 children in foster care and another 300 who are still waiting to be placed formally.

This means the social workers are charged with caring for over 1 000 children in the community.

“The subsidy we receive falls short of the amount needed to render the necessary services we are responsible for, hence the need for our fund-raising activities.

“We have various campaigns running, but today we ask if you can ‘Hold our Hand’ in whichever way you can, and ask your friends to do the same, to help us,” van Moerkerken says.

To help, and for more information about the project, visit the Springs and Kwa-Thema’s website and make use of their PayFast portal.
