Koketso (22) and Lehlohonolo (25) Buda are the founders of Buddahbrothers, a fashion brand in the making which also includes fashion apparel.

“We used to buy clothes and then redesign them. We would get compliments on our style so that’s how the idea to start our own fashion brand was born,” says Koketso.

“Fashion is something which we love dearly and are very passionate about.

“Our core products are Gurkha pants which we provide in a variety of colour. Our style is inspired by the 1970s which is aesthetic. This is how our grandparents used to dress,” says Koketso.

The brothers ventured into the fashion industry back in 2017 which has been a learning curve for them.

“We’ve had to invest a lot of time to understand the industry, especially the business aspect of it, since this isn’t something which we studied.

Koketso Buda (22), founder of the Buddahbrothers fashion brand.

“Everything we do is self taught, we are constantly making use of the internet for research purposes.”

Koketso says that nowadays access to information is much easier thanks to Google and platforms such as Youtube.

In 2018 they had an opportunity to style Afro pop singer Simphiwe Dana’s band for their Capetown Jazz Festival performance.

They have also done creative content for a clothing brand in Cape Town.

“The expeience has taught us to always be punctual, organised and that professionalism is important in business.

“We want to see our business expand and grow locally. We even have our sight set on the international market in the near future.”

The duo is currently working from home.
