Dis-Chem confirms positive Covid-19 case at Farrarmere store

The store will reopen tomorrow (April 21).

Dis-Chem has confirmed that a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19 at its store at The Square at Farrarmere shopping centre.

The store was closed today (20 April) and a professional cleaning service, complete with staff in hazmat suits, has been brought in to thoroughly deep clean the whole shop.

Lizeth Kruger, Dis-Chem’s national clinic manager, said all necessary protocols were immediately implemented and the staff member in question is in self-isolation.

The store will reopen tomorrow.

“All staff have been screened and any with symptoms or who worked in close contact with the employee have been tested and are in self-isolation at home, pending the outcome of the tests,” Kruger said.

“In addition, all staff at Dis-Chem continue to be screened and their temperature tested every morning when they arrive at work.”

She added that all precautionary measures regarding staff hygiene, health and safety and store sanitising remain in place.
