Department of Basic Education provides tools to assist parents during lockdown

Many parents are faced with the task of creating a learning space for their children during lockdown.

This is important in order to keep learners from falling behind in their schoolwork.

They are taking to social media to express how much they are failing as “teachers”, from the methods of teaching the lessons to creating exciting ways to keep the children interested in the work.

The Department of Basic Education (https://www.education.gov.za/) has created material to see to the needs of the parent (teacher) and child (learner).

These resources are multimedia, giving parents the options to do each lesson differently.

Their YouTube channel, Africa Teen Geeks (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtxs2WThIb2cQd05p-Sqyrg), gives parents the opportunity to zoom out of teacher mode while someone else takes care of the learning.
