Tsakane residents walk for charity

“I believe through information, we will be able to be tolerant of others and accommodate their needs as a community.”

Tsakane – Residents of Tsakane braved the cold weather to help raise funds for the Tsakane Therapy Centre on Saturday morning.

They participated in a Heel-A-Thon Fun Walk For Tsakane Therapy Centre for children with disabilities.

The charity walk managed to raise R7 600 in cash towards refurbishing the centre.

Event organiser Gugulethu Msimanga says the event was aimed at raising funds and creating awareness of different types of conditions that affect children.

“Through my engagements with the community, I have identified that many people don’t understand some of the disabilities and they often treat those living with disabilities differently.

“I believe through information, we will be able to be tolerant of others and accommodate their needs as a community.

“I am happy that residents and local businesses saw the need to participate and donate funds towards this initiative.

“We are hoping that other business people will be moved and come through to donate toward this good cause,” she says.
