KwaThema – The Worst Is Never the Worst organisation celebrated five years of existences on Saturday at the KwaThema Skills Centre.

Under the theme ‘reprogramming our thinking’, the organisation is the brainchild of Nhlanhla Ndaba (39), who started the organisation after the passing of her husband.

“When I look back to where I come from, I realise how blessed I am and very thankful that the organisation is still standing and growing strong.

The Worst is Never the Worst challenges community to discuss mental illness

“I have been working with the community to educate them about mental health, depression, HIV and Aids as well as other social issues affecting our communities today.

“We pride ourselves on engaging the youth and the community at large about daily struggles,” says Ndaba.

She says the organisation provides a platform for the community to discuss important issues.

“The organisation has created a safe space for people to express themselves and for us to empower each other by sharing our life’s personal experiences and challenges. People are able to reach out and seek help through the platforms we have created for them.

“We want to continue to aspire change in the lives of many people. In the near future, we would like to have our own centre where counselling can be at reach for anyone who might need it,” she says.

She adds that reprogramming one’s mind is possible.

“We are able to overcome and start all over again, which is where the reprogramming comes in.

“We must never think that we can never start over again.”
