“The organisation provides emotional support to widows through our network of widows; we believe that one person’s testimony can heal another.

“The organisation has been in existence for eight years now, and we normally go door to door to the women who are in need.

“Unfortunately, we cannot reach everyone, which is why we decided to have this conference,” says Ncokazi.

The event is free of charge and only for widows.

“The event is for widows because so far in our organisation we do not have any male counterparts.

“Therefore, we are not able to accommodate men who have lost their wives because the experiences and challenges men face are not the same as those of women.

“For instance, women go through a period of mourning whereby they have to wear black clothes and men don’t.

“They have to deal with in-laws and raising children.

“That’s mainly why we are prioritising women and not men,” she says.

There will be testimonies from other widows as well.
