Three taxi drivers shot and killed in Tsakane shooting

“Three people were shot, two of whom were declared dead on the scene, one was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition and the fourth victim was unharmed."

Tsakane – Police have launched a manhunt for unknown suspect(s) following a shooting on Friday evening in Tsakane.

It is alleged a white Hyundai IX35 with an unknown number of occupants approached the taxi patrol car along Modjadji Street and started firing multiple shots at the Ford Laser.

Capt Kay Makhubela, spokesperson for the Gauteng police, says the four victims were accosted while they were busy with their routine taxi operations.

“Three people were shot, two of whom were declared dead on the scene, one was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition and the fourth victim was unharmed.

“Police are investigating two cases of murder and one attempted murder case,” he explains.

The provincial commissioner of police in Gauteng, Lt Gen Elias Mawela, has condemned the violence.

Mawela has subsequently urged the investigators of the incident to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure the suspects are found and brought to book.
