Child (11) hit by car

A teacher from her school, Doreen Brits, says this is not the first time a child has been injured while trying to make it to school.

An 11-year-old child was knocked down by a car on Monday morning on Springs West Road.

The child had just climbed out of a taxi and was attempting to cross the busy road when she was knocked down.

Doreen Brits, a teacher from her school, Montesorri Private Primary School, says this is not the first time a child has been injured while trying to make it to school.

The school says they will be getting in touch with the municipality to look at the possibility of getting a pedestrian crossing close to the school.

Brits says the child was taken from the scene by ambulance, but was conscious and speaking when taken.
