Programme host Gontse Nyakle says: “The programme is for 10 weeks, we meet up once a week, on completion of the programme we host a baby shower for moms-to-be and they will be given a goodie bag.

“For administration purposes we charge R15 per class.

“These classes are beneficial as more information on pregnancy is provided, they learn about healthy eating and supplements they receive from the clinic.”

She explains that for some pregnancy can be a lonely period.

“What’s amazing about the work that we do is we form a bond of sisterhood, and offer support to each other, as pregnancy can be a long, dire and very lonely stage for others.

“We have different activities and do practicals, for instance this coming week we will be hosting a cooking off where they will be learning about nutritional eating,” she adds.

Attendee Sihle Ndaba says she has learned a lot from the classes.

“The classes are informative, I have learnt about different exercises for pregnant moms, how to create an eating plan, and coping methods for pregnant women.

“I would definitely recommend them to any pregnant person, and the environment is very friendly,” says Ndaba.
