KwaThema widow changes plea for husband’s murder

The deceased was shot and killed on March 6 and his body was found in an open veld next to Ntokozweni Primary School.

KwaThema – Nonhlahla Matiwane (41) pleaded not guilty to the murder of his late husband Sibusiso Mthombeni (42) in the Springs Magistrates Court on Thursday.

This was after she previously pleaded guilty and confessed to the police that she had ordered the hit on her late husband for an insurance pay-out.
The deceased was shot and killed on March 6 and his body was found in an open veld next to Ntokozweni Primary School.

The accused had previously confessed to the police to have hired a hitman, promising to pay him R80 000 from the insurance policy.
The case had to be postponed for February 24 because of the widow’s sudden change of plea.
Brigadier Mathapelo Peter, Gauteng SAPS spokesperson confirmed that the four men who were allegedly hired by Nonhlanhla to carry out the hit of her husband are still on the run.
The four suspects, Phumlani Tshabalala, Mzandile Master Mbatha, Mduduzi Richard Sithole and Mongiseni Cyprian Langa , were among the nine suspects who escapees from the Springs Magistrates Court on December 4.

Peters called for anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts to come forward.
The public are warned not to confront the suspects as they are extremely dangerous and are possibly armed.
