“I am so happy, I am lost for words. I didn’t expect someone to react to my story so quickly.

“I thank God, and I would like to thank them for taking their time to come see me and give me a wheelchair.

“Being old and living by yourself is not easy at all,” she says.

The Solanga Investments organisation from KwaThema discovered gogo’s story on the African Reporter’s social media page after it was published.

The organisation is fairly new and aims to empower the lives of local residents.

The founder of the organisation, Jabu Maseko, says the wheelchair was initially bought for his uncle but his uncle died before he got a chance to use it.

“The wheelchair has been with us for a while and I was already considering pawning it, but after I read the story I was touched and remembered that I was still in a possession of a new wheelchair which was not being used.

“I hope this wheelchair brings her joy and makes life a bit simple for her.

“We as an organisation will definitely be coming back to check on her from time to time and we will also see how best we can assist her going forward,” says Maseko.
