Ngwenya’s case postponed to January 30

The ward councillor who looked like a shadow of his vibrant self addressed his supporters saying his name will be cleared by the court in good time.

KwaThema – The case of attempted murder against the suspended Ward 79 Clr Zwelibanzi Ngwenya has been postponed to January 30 by the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

It is alleged the councillor’s brother was fighting with the victim on December 24 and the brother called the councillor to intervene.

Upon arrival the councillor allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in his face.

Ngwenya was arrested on December 29 and was released on bail on December 30.

The victim is currently (still) receiving medical attention at an East Rand hospital.

Residents and supporters chanted struggle songs outside the court in support of the councillor.

“He called for the fall of corruption and crime, and for criminals to be arrested and for more service delivery in Ward 76.”

He spoke against politicians who use residents to fight political battles.
