Opportunity for learners to improve their maths marks

Ninety-two per cent of the learners who completed the programme passed maths and will be assisted on the programme until they matriculate.

Kwatsaduza – Institute of Mathematics South Africa, previously known as Ntsane Masiloane School Enrichment Programmes, registered 1 200 Grade Nine learners from KwaThema, Duduza and Daveyton in 2019.

Ninety-two per cent of the learners who completed the programme passed maths and will be assisted until they matriculate.

Institute of Mathematics SA registers learners in Grades Eight and Nine with the aim of improving their maths skills in preparation for Grade 12.

“We want to bring about notable transformation and developments in the field of maths and we are inviting learners to enrol for the programme,” says Ntsane Masiloane, who founded the programme in 2011.

Orientation day for 2020 is as follows:

• KwaThema, January 18 at 9am at Kenneth Masekela Secondary School

• Duduza, January 18 at 11am at MOM Secondary School

• Daveyton, January 18 at 1pm at Dinoto Secondary School.

One of the learners at the institute, Vuyani Mkwayi, says: “I joined the programme in March last year and I am very happy with my overall improvement.

“When I started, my marks at school weren’t that good, but my term four marks showed massive improvement.”

Another learner, Khentsane Dlukula, says her results improved from level two to level seven.

The programme is free of charge and is sponsored by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
