Stokvels targeted by criminals
“We are concerned about the safety of our residents and their families due to the increase of these crimes.”
Tsakane- Since the beginning of the festive season, Tsakane SAPS has been receiving a number of cases of robberies of money from stokvel members.
The money is either robbed from the members’ homes, on their way from the bank or the place where money is shared among stokvel members.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says they are urging residents to refrain from withdrawing large sums of money.
“We are concerned about the safety of our residents and their families due to the increase of these crimes.

“Tsakane SAPS would like to appeal to the community, and stokvel members, not to keep cash in the house.
“Stokvels are encouraged to use electronic transfers to the members.”
