“We aim to help those in need; festive season can be a dreadful period in some people’s lives.

“We wanted to give them something before we all went our separate ways,” says the leader of the group, Dudu Mnyakeni.

They will resume early in January.

“We have had an amazing year so far, working with the community and making a difference in the lives of ordinary citizens is so fulfilling.

“We will definitely continue with the programme next year and hopefully more people will come on board and assist us, either with food or volunteering their time,” she adds.

Mnyakeni says they also focus on skills empowerment.

“We have a bead project as well where we educate young girls and women and some men about beading, which I believe it is a valuable skill and a person can make extra cash through it.”
