Liebher wants to empower community

“For us, the community always comes first.”

Two-hundred young men and women from around Springs gathered at Liebher in Vlakfontein on Saturday morning.

This event comes as Liebher starts to look for apprentices for 2021.

The visitors who show the most promise on Saturday will be given apprenticeships for 2021.

The day started with a brief overview of the company and what an apprenticeship will involve, as well as the core principles and values that company adheres to.

General manager Tendayi Kudumba says: “The point of today is to give these men and women a chance to put their foot in the door.

“We have opened our doors to the community and we hope we can empower them.

“For us, the community always comes first.”

The students were able to speak to the experts, look at the machinery and hand in their CVs.

The apprenticeship will include repairing and maintaining engines and equipment.

Kruger says: “Our main aim today is to approach our community and let them know that there is an organisation out there that wants to employ them.”
