Elders lend a helping hand

The group meets on Monday and Wednesdays to exercising, praying and to visit the sick in the community.

KwaThema – Elderly members of Ratanang Elderly Organisation took it upon themselves to clean the Holiness Union Church as part of their annual celebration on Monday.

As part of their birthday celebration, the centre gave a helping hand to improving the lives of those in their community.

The centre was launched in 2015 to help the eldery in the area with some of their basic needs.

Centre founder Nomvula Sibanyoni says we also invite medical practitioners to give health talks to the elders on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

“As part of this year’s celebration, we decided to clean and paint the church that houses them weekly.

“We identified that the church needed a makeover, so we decided to lend a helping hand.

“The church was generous enough to allow us to hold our weekly meetings for free, the least we could do is give back to them.

“We painted the walls, cleaned the yard and cooked for the elders in the community who will be celebrating the milestone with us,” she says.
