Community gives back to doctors and nurses at Pholosong Hospital

Hospital personnel showered with love.

Tsakane – Ward 6A at Pholosong Hospital was filled with lots of exciting energy, smiles and laughter when mothers and the hospital staff came together to celebrate the release of newborn babies who were born premature.

Lucia Kwakwari (29) expressed how thankful she is to the doctors and nurses who helped her throughout the past months.

“I had my twins when I was only seven months pregnant and unfortunately the one twin didn’t make it, but with the assistance I received from this hospital it made my entire experience so much better.

“I was admitted on July 6 and could only take my child home on September 6.

“Today, we just wanted to say thank you because the work they do is certainly not easy and I personally appreciate how they treated me and my child here,” says Kwakwari.

Head nurse Fikile Mabuza added they welcomed the gesture.

“Our hearts are full with joy and gratitude because it is not every day whereby the community shows appreciation for the work we do.

“This is an opportunity for us to continue to do more and service the community with love, care and professionalism.

“This ward has done such wonderful work in ensuring that every child and mother received the best care possible,” says Mabuza.

Head of the paediatrics Ishmael Mngomezulu says: “The mothers here represent the community, therefore, it means we have left a footprint within the community as far as the service from the paediatrics department.

“The process doesn’t end with them being discharged, but the relationship and the teachings they have received from the nurses are important because these things will ensure they provide the best care for their children,” says Mngomezulu.
