Gogo and granddaughter found dead on the floor

KwaThema – The Mngomezulu family is mourning the death of gogo Margaret Mngomezulu (67) and her granddaughter Busisiwe Jula (2).

The two were found dead inside their home in Vergenoeg, KwaThema, by gogo Margaret’s daughter, Brenda Jula, on her return home from church at about 7.30pm on Saturday.

The suspect is said to be known to the family members.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says according Brenda, she left her mother with her daughter in the morning to attend a church service.

“On her return she knocked on the door several times, but there was no response.

“She then forced the window open and that’s when she made the gruesome discovery.

“The 67-year-old gogo was lying on the kitchen floor and had sustained injuries to her head, while the two-year-old baby had no visible injuries,” he adds.

Family member Mandla Mngomezulu says: “Neighbours who witnessed the incident explained that they saw the suspect on the roof of the house and believed he was fixing it.

“His friends allegedly saw the suspect in possession of the stolen items from the house and he is believed to be in Hillbrow.”

Manaka says they are investigating two cases of murder and calling on anyone who may have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward or contact KwaThema police on 011 812 4600 or the police Crime Stop number on 0800 10111.
