Suspect arrested for Ayanda’s murder

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says the suspect will appear before the Springs Magistrate’s Court on November 26.

KwaThema – A suspect was charged in connection with the murder of Ayanda Simelane (22) last Thursday.

Simelane’s body was found behind the rental rooms at 9 Mokhitli Street in Phomolo in May last year.

At the time, KwaThema police spokesperson WO Peter Tebeila told African Reporter that the deceased had gone out clubbing at the Themba Tavern in the area with her boyfriend, Thulani Xaba, on Friday evening.

“During police questioning, Thulani told the police that an altercation broke out between Ayanda and three girls.

“He allegedly left to go to the bathroom, but when he returned he could not find his girlfriend anywhere.

“He called the family to find out if she was at home, but no one picked up his calls.”

Tebeila says the victim’s body was found three streets away from the tavern.
