Women’s League donates pads

“We don’t want to see a learner missing school because of the monthly cycle or not having toiletries when we are here and able to help.”

Tsakane – ANC Women’s League from David Bopape Zone donated sanitary towels to 119 girls and toiletries to 90 boys from Langaville Primary School last Thursday.

The league says they identified a need in the school because a majority of the learners are from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Zanele Mhlanga from the Women’s League says this was part of their social outreach programme to help those in need.

“After consulting with the school about their needs we agreed that it was best to donate sanitary towels for learners, especially those in Grade Seven.

“We don’t want to see a learner missing school because of the monthly cycle or not having toiletries when we are here and able to help.

“The donation will cover the learners for the last semester and we will make another donation next year,” she says.

School teacher Simphiwe Mtise says as the school they appreciate all the help they receive from the members of the community.

“The donation will go a long way and our learners will now focus on their studies, rather than the challenge of their monthly cycle or the need for toiletries.

“We are hoping other organisations will follow in their footsteps to help our learners,” she adds.
