Class of 1977 to have a reunion

The school was the second operating school in the East Rand for black learners.

Kwatsaduza – Mamellong Nqabeni Secondary School, formerly known as Brakpan Bantu High School, was established in 1942 to cater for African learners.

The school was the second operating school in the East Rand for black learners.

The class of 1977 is calling on former classmates for the upcoming biggest and grandest reunion, which will take place in February 2020.

Organiser Mashane Mokoena says they are preparing for the upcoming event and would appreciate it if the entire class of 1977 would attend.

“Our next meeting will take place at 176 Hammond Street, Dunnottar, Nigel, on October 20.

“We ask everyone to attend and bring a small fee of R30 as a contribution to the upcoming main event.

“The purpose of this event is to reconnect with old friends, relive our memories, network and exchange new ideas,” says Mokoena.

The invitation is extended to former teachers as well.

Paul Padi, former classmate and co-organiser, says the reunion is a step towards giving back to the needy.

“Our end goal is to start programmes where we can assist learners with funds for tertiary education, and provide them with skills some of us have acquired over the years, while keeping in touch with each other.”

On the day, attendees are asked to come with their own camping chairs, cooler boxes and garden umbrellas.
