Community invited for a family fun day

Luvalo believes that investing and guiding young men into manhood will alleviate the scourge of gender-based violence.

KwaThema – The Cool Dads Foundation is inviting the community to a 5km and 10km fun walk that will take place at Carnival City Lawns, on November 24, from 7am.

The foundation is a non-profit organisation that was established in 2012 by Bongani Luvalo and friends from KwaThema.

The organisation is dedicated to shaping young men into responsible fathers.

“The purpose of this fun day is to revive young families and instil a culture of positive parenthood while also raising funds for the organisation’s Big Brother Mentorship Programme,” says Luvalo.

The foundation provides mentorship programmes and educates fathers about the importance of playing a positive and active role in their children’s life.

Luvalo believes that investing and guiding a young man into manhood will alleviate the scourge of gender-based violence.

“We need to lead by example, be positive role models for the young men and give them something to aspire to.

“This is a platform to teach them about the negative impacts of abusive households and how they could become moral man of society to beat this pandemic that has plagued our society for decades,” says Luvalo.

The initiative aims to raise R250 000 for the Big Brother Mentorship Programme.

The programme will focus on mentoring young boys through camps, educational outings, career guidance and workshops.
