Ndebele chief urges men to stop killing women

“Why are men so angry at women that they want to wipe them off the face of the earth?”

KwaThema – Ndebele Chief Eliajah Skhosana called on men in the area to stop killing women and children in the area.

He was speaking during an annual heritage event held in Rest in Peace section on Saturday.

The event is held to celebrate different cultures and to educate residents not to forget their heritage.

Young people were called to grow up respecting their elders and traditions.

Dressed in their traditional colourful outfits, residents reflected and shared ideas on how to address social ills.

Skhosana says enough is enough with the killing of women and children.

Traditional leaders from Ekurhuleni joined in the celebrations during the annual KwaThema heritage event.

“We are tired of hearing about a woman who was found dead, killed by her husband or a child who was kidnapped and found dead somewhere.

“What have they done so bad to deserve to be killed like this?

“Why are men so angry at women that they want to wipe them off the face of the earth?

“These women are our children and we love them. If you feel you no longer love them, leave them alone and continue with your life,” he says.

Traditional leaders from Ekurhuleni joined in the celebrations during the annual KwaThema heritage event.

Skhosana encouraged the attendees to go back to their traditional roots which were build on ubuntu.

“If we all go back to the basics of respecting one another as a people then we would not see crime growing at the rate that it is at this point.

“We wouldn’t see young people taking what does not belong to them without asking.

“We wouldn’t see young people dying of HIV/Aids, and addicted to drugs,” he adds.
