Facility donates appliances to centre

“The children are either orphaned and have no one to take care of them or left in the care of their grandparents."

KwaThema – Witpoort Treatment and Recovery Centre, in conjunction with Life Health Care Group, donated appliances and groceries to Tholakele Centre of Hope on Wednesday.

The centre houses 10 orphaned children and 15 out-groups who visit the centre during the day to do their homework and receive daily meals.

Witpoort Treatment and Recovery Centre manager Tshepo Kau said as part of their annual Sizanani project, they decided to make a difference for the children of Tholakele Centre of Hope.

“Because of the spate of abuse of children and women, we felt the need to make the donation to this centre,” he says.

“We visited the centre and identified their critical needs and used the funds towards affording what they needed.”

Tholakele Centre of Hope manager Kholeka Mtembu says they are grateful for the donations as they will go a long way in making the children’s stay at the centre better.

“The survival of the centre depends mostly on donations from local business people.

“The children are either orphaned and have no one to take care of them or left in the care of their grandparents.

“The children will also feel that they are part of the community and not isolated.

“We appreciate all the help we get because this is for the benefit of the children,” she adds.
