KwaThema – Seventeen people were arrested over the weekend during various operations held in in the area.
The operations included roadblocks, stop-and-search and tracing of suspects.
KwaThema police spokesperson, Const Media Khoza says the suspects were arrested for possession of drugs and dagga, house break-ins and theft, assault GBH, possession of hijacked motor vehicles and rape.

“A 63-year-old man was arrested for raping a 38-year-old man.
“The victim alleged he was visiting his sister in KwaThema when he was raped.
“He alleged the suspect, who is the father-in-law of his sister, called him to the bedroom and asked him to sit on the bed. He started touching him and promised to fix his cellphone and help him obtain a driver’s licence.
“He then told him to remove his underwear and forced him to face down and allegedly raped him,” she says.

A case was opened and the suspect was arrested and detained at KwaThema Police Station. He will appear at the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
