The Springs Police conducted an operation at the Grootvlei Mine last Wednesday.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the operation started at 10am and went on until 2pm.
“The purpose of the operation was to curb illegal miners, illegal immigrants, illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
“Nineteen illegal miners were arrested, and equipment such as generators and shovels were confiscated,” says Ramphora.
