Neglected lots a hotbed of criminal activity

It’s mostly elderly people who live in this area and they are soft targets for criminals.

Two empty lots in Springs Extension Four are a security concern for the community.

According to ward councillor Thulani Simelane, tenants once stayed in these houses but problems with basic services, such as no electricity and very little water, forced them to leave.

These empty lots have since been neglected and left to vandals.

The area is also being used as a dumping site, with discarded pieces of paper and plastic littered about.

Simelane believes this creates a breeding ground for crime.

Simelane requests that the owner of these lots comes forward to claim the property and clear the area for the benefit of the community.
