In this episode we feature a young afro soul artist from the North West, who is a mother of two and she takes us through the hardships and joys of becoming a musician and a business woman.

It’s been a while since we’ve dropped a new episode of young and upcoming, a segment where we feature emerging talent and hardworking individuals who are making waves in their respective industries.

And, just like that, here’s our next episode of #YoungAndUpComing.

In this episode, we feature a young afro soul artist from the North West, who is a mother of two and she takes us through the hardships and joys of becoming a musician and a business woman.

Tumelo Tshetlo Mthethwa, who is known as the soul sister by her fans, is working on her first album titled Naledi.

On the album, Tumi will be working with a well-known South African producer (who she refuses to name) and promises to share stories of love, pain, and growth.

“He’s a well-known producer and I’m so excited to be working with him on my project.

“It took me a while to get someone to help me interpret and understand my sound. In the beginning, it was just a mixture of sounds. I cannot wait to see what we discover through this process.”

In her latest feature, the afro soul artist plans to crossover to the hip hop fraternity in a song that features well-known hip hop duo B3nchmarq and DJ Mpako.

Tumelo works with various non-profit campaigns for children and seeks to inspire young and upcoming children from all walks of life. She has also started a YouTube show called “Be Great with Melo,” a show that seeks to celebrate great individuals from various backgrounds.

Like most artists from the North West, Tumelo’s sound is inspired by various sounds and genres. Her Motswako sound also comes from sharing stages with the likes of Mo’Molemi and the late rap artist HHP (Hip Hop Pantsula).
