Chiefs suffer loss at hands of Pirates

With the opening of the Premier Soccer League set to start on August 3, the derby gave fans a peek of what they can expect from the two teams. On Saturday, Pirates will take on Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs will face off against Highlands Park.

Kwatsaduza – Kaizer Chiefs fans were left disappointed following a massive defeat of 2-0 against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium on July 27.

Pirates took the lead when Lorenzo Gordinho scored within 18 minutes of the game.

The match was intense and ultimately saw Pirates walk away as champions.

Chiefs fan Mabhayi Maseko says: “This was us doing our bit for Mandela Day, so they can go on and celebrate.

“But next time we will surely reclaim our position as reigning champions.”

Teka Matsepane, a Kaizer Chiefs fan, says he is a bit disappointed in how the game ended but remains positive.

“We lost due to poor defence and our goalkeeper wasn’t really delivering.

“But what is done is done. Now we need to prepare ourselves for the PSL, as we all know that winning an opening match is very important. It sets the tone for the entire league season,” explains Matsepane.
