What to do in case of a fire

Always verify the information given and give as much information as possible.

In case of a fire emergency contact Ekurhuleni Emergency Services on 011 458 0911 or call 10177 from any phone to be put through to the Vodacom 112 life threatening emergencies line.

The following is the procedure to make a call:

• Try to be as calm as possible.

• State your name in full. (Spell it out to the operator if possible).

• State your contact numbers.

• State the main reason why you are calling. (What is the situation).

• State the address where the emergency is, nearest land mark and nearest cross road.

• State the suburb and city where the incident is.

• Do not hang up, wait for the operator to finish first.

• Ask for the reference number and store safe.

• Ask for the operator’s name.

• Always verify the information given and give as much information as possible.

In case of medical requirement:

• It is important for everyone to know first aid.

• Prior to the arrival of the paramedics, it is of paramount importance to render first aid treatment to the patient.
