Taxi commuters warned about robberies

It is alleged there are taxi drivers and passengers who have been robbing other passengers of their belongings.

Springs – Leornard Molo, the Springs Taxi Association (STA) chairperson, would like to warn taxi commuters of the robberies which have been happening around Springs and KwaThema.

It is alleged there are taxi drivers and passengers who have been robbing other passengers of their belongings recently.

According to Molo, the STA has received complaints about five such incidents, three in Slovo Park, Dunswart and Third Street in the CBD, respectively, and two incidents in KwaThema.

Molo says: “We would like to ask the commuters to check the registration numbers and the stickers of the taxis they use.

“Our taxis have stickers which are easy to identify.

“We also warn commuters to catch taxis at the taxi rank rather than on the street, especially at night when it might not be easy for them to see the stickers.”
