KwaThema businessman robbed of R39 000

Khoza says the pair took the money and told him they were sparing his life as they were sent to kill him.

KwaThema – KwaThema police are investigating a case of business robbery after a 35-year-old businessman was robbed of R39 000 on Tuesday morning.

It is alleged the family was sleeping in the early hours of the morning when they were awoken by one of their doors opening.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says it is alleged the businessman woke up to investigate when he noticed two unknown men in his bedroom who then pulled out a knife and a firearm.

“They demanded money from him and fired one shot, threatening his life.

“He went on to tell them where the money was hidden, which they took,” she explains.

Khoza says the pair took the money and told him they were sparing his life as they were sent to kill him.

“They also asked him to lay low for a while before they fled the scene.

“On arrival, police found one cartridge at the scene,” she says.

The KwaThema police are requesting residents with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
