“Always remove the keys from ignition when you open the gate or garage and be on the look-out of any person present in your house that you are approaching".

Duduza – The residents of Duduza are warned to stay alert to hijackers in the area.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says that on Sunday, at about 9.20pm, a 36-year-old man was hijacked outside his home by two unknown armed men in Masechaba Section. The hijackers made off with his VW Polo Vivo.

“He was allegedly approached by two men who pointed firearms at him, forced him out of the vehicle, took his money and then sped off in his car.

“Police are investigating a case of hijacking.

“We are appealing to the community of Duduza to be vigilant and alert at all times,” he says.

Manaka says this is not the first hijacking to take place this winter.

“Criminals are targeting unsuspecting residents, especially in their driveways. They are stealing their vehicles and belongings.

“We urge residents to always look around before they reach their driveway and make sure their vehicle doors are locked at all times.

“Always remove the keys from the ignition when you open the gate or garage, and be on the lookout for any person present on your property.

“Always have your police emergency numbers on speed-dial.

“Do not resist if you are robbed, because a vehicle can be replaced, but your life cannot,” he says.
