Innovative expo brings new ideas to Tsakane

“Planning the event was a humbling experience where I learned about the people of the east and the things they need to see and learn.”

Tsakane – Tsakane entrepreneur Sibusiso Ngwenya of Skinny Sbu Socks hosted first of its kind Ideas Expo this past weekend which saw the likes of entrepreneur Sbusisio DJ Sbu Leope, group CEO of M&N Brands, Zibusiso Mkhwanazi and award-winning journalist Lesley Mofokeng coming to Tsakane to exchange ideas and stories with young local business people in the area.

They shared the difficulties the faced when they went into business when they were younger and how they managed to find their way out.

The idea behind the event, according to Ngwenya, was to expose Kwatsaduza youth to trailblazers with the hope that they will be inspired.

The expo also gave local business people a chance to showcase their businesses.

Nkosinathi Zwane of KwaThema fashion week

Zwane held a fashion show at the expo where the works of local designers were modeled by locals.

“People’s minds were changed as they were inspired .

“A seed was planted in the minds of the people of Kwatsaduza and I hope it grows in a way that will changed their lives” says Ngwenya.

Ngwenya says he feels that in the process of organising the two-day event, he learned about himself and the people of the East Rand.

“Planning the event was a humbling experience where I learned about the people of the east and the things they need to see and learn.

“I also realised how expensive travelling to Johannesburg is and feel that there are businesses locally who offer the same services, and this was a great way to introduce our people to these so we can support locals,” Ngewnya continues.
